 Are you looking for something new? Holland Applied Technologies is seeking a System Design Engineer to join our team! The System Design Engineer designs process skid equipment, ensures efficient production of process systems, delivers equipment and design information to customer and creates project proposals for client bids.

Holland Applied Technologies, located in Burr Ridge IL, is a leader in the sanitary process/equipment industry. We fabricate and distribute sanitary equipment and systems for the food, pharmaceutical, personal care, and beverage industries.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Analyzes client P&IDs and determines design constraints or improvements
  • Designs process equipment following customer specifications and communicates any issues with client.
  • Primary technical contact for all customer interaction
  • Collaborates with fabrication shop to determine most efficient designs for projects
  • Leads formal design reviews and effectively presents design concepts.
  • Builds skid bill of material and ensure correct material is allocated
  • Performs tipping calculations, heat transfer calculations, and deflection calculations to confirm project viability
  • Assembles isometric drawings, weld maps, and weld logs for shop use
  • Obtains quotes and issues POs for outsourced parts and miscellaneous materials
  • Creates detailed job proposals to account for material, labor, and engineering cost.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD / 3D modeling software.
  • Comprehension of machine elements; familiarity with mills and lathes; knowledge of fabrication and welding practices
  • Basic understanding of materials science – stainless steel, plastic, carbon steel
  • Basic understanding of job costing
  • Ability to follow detailed plan proposals, maintaining job budget, and following strict project schedule
  • Able to make quick changes to design when needed and record
  • Work closely with engineering shop and clients to maintain schedule and efficient design
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while completing work in assigned timeframes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to effectively work with individuals at all levels within the organization.  
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering
  • At least 3 years of experience in equipment design, preferably in the food/beverage/biopharma industry

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. occasionally
Pay & Benefits:
The expected salary range for this role is $75,000-90,000 annually.  Please note salaries are based upon factors including candidate skills, experience and qualifications, education, certifications, as well as market and business considerations.  The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees.  Other factors include the following benefits: Medical insurance is available for full time employees and their dependents through Blue Cross Blue Shield.  There are various options available including HSA and PPO plans.  Similarly, dental, vision, and disability coverages are also available.  The company provides full time employees with life insurance and offers employees the ability to purchase additional voluntary supplemental insurance as well.  The Company also offers 401K with matching employer contributions along with a discretionary profit-sharing benefit to eligible employees.   This position is also bonus eligible, which is based on company targets as well as individual performance targets.
